The Dojo Code: UV DTF Application Guide

The Dojo Code: UV DTF Application Guide

You earned the sticker. Now stick it right. This isn't your average peel-and-slap situation. UV DTF stickers are UV-cured, raised-texture decals — built to last. Follow these steps with discipline, or don't bother.

Step 1: The Surface Prep

This is where most people fail before they even start. Your surface must be clean. No dust. No oil. No fingerprints. No excuses.

Wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. A dirty surface is a failed application. Period. The dojo doesn't tolerate shortcuts. Step 1: Surface Prep

Step 2: Peel the Backing

Grip the white backing paper and peel it back slowly at a 45-degree angle. Don't rush it. Make sure the entire design lifts cleanly with the clear carrier film.

If any part of the design stays on the backing, lay it back down and try again — slower this time.

Step 2: Layer Separation View

Step 3: Apply and Burnish

Place the clear carrier sheet exactly where you want it. Once it touches the surface, it's committed. Position with intention.

Now burnish like you mean it. Grab a credit card, squeegee, or your thumb and apply firm, even pressure. Start from the center and work outward. No mercy on air bubbles. Push them to the edges. Spend a full 60 seconds on this — minimum.

Step 3: Apply and Burnish

Step 4: The Critical Wait

Put the squeegee down. Step back. Let it sit for at least 60 seconds. This isn't a coffee break — this is the adhesive bonding to the surface at a molecular level. Respect the process.

Don't peel early. Don't touch it. Just wait.

Step 4: The Critical Wait

Step 5: The Reveal

This is the moment of truth. Peel the clear transfer film back slowly and keep it nearly parallel to the surface — almost flat, not up at an angle.

If any part of the design starts to lift with the film, stop immediately. Lay the film back down, burnish that section again, wait another 30 seconds, then continue peeling. Patience wins.

Step 5: The Reveal

Troubleshooting

  • Fine detail is lifting? Lay the film back down and rub that area firmly again. Give it time. Then peel slower.
  • Applied it wrong? UV DTF stickers are permanent once set. There are no re-dos. This is why Step 1 exists. Prep like your reputation depends on it — because it does.

You're Ready.
